Homegrown fodder for our goats

Black Zimbabwean farmer with harvested fodder

We have planted Juncao grass and lucerne for our goats. This is how fodder production fits into the wider SIE Farms operation.

Growing feed alongside livestock

Goat breeding and fodder production are connected parts of our farming activities. Planting feed gives our team another practical area to manage alongside the daily care of livestock.

Our planted fodder

Our planted fodder includes Juncao grass and lucerne. These crops are grown for feeding our goats. This work complements our poultry, Boer goat breeding and horticulture activities.

Planning the farm routine

Fodder production involves its own planting, field work and harvesting schedule. Coordinating these activities with livestock routines helps our team plan the work across the farm. We continue to build our farming activities around practical day-to-day needs.
